Features

Deathmatch Manager is a comprehensive utility for customising and managing your LAN Quake2 sessions, or indeed your single player practice sessions.

Deathmatch Manager contains GUI utilities to set up and configure your server, including may custom features like MIDI playing and Eraser bots. It includes a GUI utility for clients, which will not only start the game for them, but will download any out of date or missing maps, skins etc that the server has to ensure the client is up to date.

Underneath it all, Deathmatch Manager has a custom built DLL which implements customisations and features in the Quake2 game.

The principle behind Deathmatch Manager is ease of use, functionality and most of all, fun! I know from experience that getting a LAN session up and running can be time consuming for all sorts of reasons, so DMM was written to streamline and enhance the process aswell as providing extra functionality.

Detailed Feature List

Feature Description

Cutomisable Map Lists

Allows you to specify a list of maps to be run on your server. The server machine will loop through these maps, and if you jump into the middle of the list with a "map" command, the list will restart from that point onwards.

MP3 and MIDI Music

Deathmatch Manager will play a list of MP3 and MIDI files you tell it to, synchronising this list to the map list so you can have the most appropriate music for the maps you want.

Customised Sounds

Deathmatch Manager will play extra sounds for weapon & powerup pickups, suicides and deaths. These sounds can be the ones supplied with DMM, or your own .wav files.

Customised Obituaries

With Deathmatch Manager you can alter all those messages that appear when a player is killed. There are 34 of them in all, ranging from all the various suicides, to the difference between a direct rocket hit and a near miss.

Eraser Bots

Deathmatch Manager's Quake2 modification includes the hugely popular Eraser Bot from Ridah. If you need extra computer controlled players, either to make up the numbers in CTF games or as opponents if you are playing on your own, the Eraser Bot fills the gap.

Threewave CTF

Deathmatch Manager includes CTF support, so if you play a CTF map, it will automatically switch the CTF rules on. (Requires the CTF pak0.pak)
Deathmatch Manager also extends the features in CTF to include fully customisable CTF skins, and a handy offhand grapple, which can be used even when holding a weapon.

Viewable Weapons

Included in Deathmatch Manager's modification is support for Viewable Weapons (VWep), which means you can always see what kind of firepower players (and bots) are packing. This also requires the VWep PAK file (available separately on the downloads page)

GibStats Logging

Included is the ability to log your DM or CTF games, so you can later load the log file into GibStats or some other compatible log analyser to get all sorts of stats about you and your team's performance, who your nemesis is, what weapon you did best with etc.

Full GUI Interface

With Deathmatch Manager, everything you need is included in the friendly and convenient GUI interface.

There is a configuration manager and server launcher, where you configure all the options listed above (including bots), and which launches the server with the options you choose.

The Deathmatch Manager Client program is run on all clients, which will download updated files from the server if applicable to ensure maps, skins etc are up to date on the client. It also handles the launching of the client for complete simplicity.
