HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!! My personal e-mail address is now: aflitcroft@lineone.net if you want to talk to me specifically. You can also now ICQ us on 44415851.

PLEASE MAIL ME if you're doing anything with the source code. AND I am in the process of formulating a new project from Quake 3. I'll tell more when I examine the code and utils (and when the game is released in the UK!) Yes - the hit counter has broken again - it's around 24k now.

YET ANOTHER NEW VERSION! This will be the last version ever of Q-Racing - It's called version 2.01b but unless anyone out there comes up with new tracks - it's all over! Anyway...... the new version adds the one thing I wanted to as a homage to the original classic Micro Machines 1 - the standard top down view. Why not try out this little bit of nostalgia? Go on, just for us. It's a fitting end for what has essentially been a homage to the Codemasters' classic.

P.S. If the hit counter reads in the hundreds - it's broken! Just add 21,000 to the displayed value and you'll get a true representation as it keeps resetting.

ANOTHER NEW VERSION! After a minor resurgence in interest (mainly Aubrey Hesselgren @ Matrix Q2), I have written a new version (2.01) which fixes the main problem people complained about - the car going out of view. After spending ages working on tan and pi, the camera now locks onto the car on the vertical axis as well as the horizontal - keeping the car at the centre of the screen at all times. It is also confirmed that there are NO PROBLEMS with Q-Racing Multiplayer. The new version can be downloaded in it's entirety (3.9mb) or for people with Q-Racing V2, you can just download the upgrade (190k).

Q-RACING IS DEAD if you don't help. Please help and make a track for us - just have a dabble and get the track guide from the downloads page. Remember, the source code is also available (now updated for new version). We maybe getting a lot more publicity soon so your contribution may well stand out.

E-MAIL US! We love receiving anything you've got to say - our individual addresses are now on the Team page - it would be good for Ste or Paul (the designers) to receive some mail as well. Our main address for any general comment is flitsoft@telefragged.com ; my (Adrian Flitcroft) own personal address is aflitcroft@lineone.net ; Paul Matthews' is kylaris@hotmail.com ; Steven Cheetham's is cussingsnake@usa.net

OH WELL! Not a very good response - we're having trouble getting noticed again - I suppose no-ones interested in Quake 2 shit anymore. Do me a favour and post something about us on any message board or news site that you visit.

SOURCE RELEASED! Q-Racing V2's source code is on the downloads page for anyone who's interested or want's to compile for Linux - I've had numerous requests. I'm a bit embarrassed to do this though (as was John Carmack when he released Quake C) as the code is a lot of crap - almost solid hacks! Though a 'hack' is just a (more messy) way to solve a problem - in a sense what programming is all about. I don't know what you can use to compile it - I used Microsoft Dev Studio.

NEW SEQUEL IS FINISHED!!! (sort of). OK - here's the TRUTH: as it's now the most important year in education for us all this year, and due to holidays and illness we've not had much time to work on Q-Racing V2, hence the massive delay and lack of updates. STATE OF PLAY: the game is missing 2 tracks. Paul hasn't done his beach track for the monster trucks which was going to double as a Tatooine track for the podracers. I'm not pressuring him into doing it (I've tried already). I'm just throwing this out here for any fans of the mod - we've just lost interest.

WHAT'S IT GOT THEN??? Well, it's got 4 types of car (now animated), each with different handling (jeep, monster truck, Dodge Viper, and Pod Racer!), Another track - PoolBar Panic, by Steven Cheetham (along with Table Top Terror by Paul Matthews) and it's got loads of new features and fixes that I can't fit it in here but they fix all the myriad flaws in the first versions. It's still a good laugh and a very modest download size.

YOUR TC NEEDS YOU! I must admit, for the forseable future we're not doing any more development. (though I've said that before!) We will make a comeback with something new in the future, but that's a LONG way off. As far as I know, we're not going to get the missing tracks done. PLEASE, PLEASE (gets down on knees), PLEASE (grovel, grovel) PLEASE will YOU help. Could you (or a talented friend) do a track for us? Get the Track Making Guide 2, and in conjunction with full support and guidance from me via e-mail, could you create us some tracks? We need 1 for the trucks and 1 for the podracers - and you will become famous (sort of). You'll get big coverage on the site and in the credits - the ones you see when you play it. You can even get your photo on here too. And believe me - this thing is gonna be downloaded all over the place and on loads of CDs - PLEASE HELP!

LIKE THE NEW SITE I DID?

NEW SEQUEL ALMOST FINISHED! - Sorry about the lack of news lately. 1) I couldn't be arsed 2) I only wanted to announce this when I knew it would work and 3) I've been away on a Russian course at Essex Uni. There is a sequel on it's way within 2 weeks! It has 3 tracks and 3 cars (jeep,Dodge Viper, monster truck) with varying handling, loads of tweaks, fixes and features. It's called Q-RACING V2 and is gonna be what the original should've been. Expect news about this on every Quake site when I send out the propaganda for the release. Come here for the details.

WHAT??? As I type there is a massive tropical storm on - In the NW of England! The weather has been scorching. So maybe I'm leaving at the right time - I'm off to Italia for 2 weeks. The new version should be released the day I come back but there's also a chance it could be out on Wednesday (50/50) before I go.

THANKS TO: PC Gamer UK for including us in their recent mod feature. They had put the best 5 mods for Quake2 on their CD and in the mag and WE were there! Along with AirQuake2, Rocket Arena 2, Eraser Bot and Annihalation! Prestigous company eh? Also big thanks to Chokolademan for his Shadowrun links. I now have Zsnes and everything - thanks.

GET DESIGNING! some tracks. We'll make you famous - when we released the new version we were all over the internet - just for a few crappy bug fixes!

I'M DOSSING AT HOME doing nothing! I'm actually on exam leave. Phew - that History exam yesterday was bloody difficult - 4 essays in a row. Should I do some revision for my Geography module tomorrow or phone one of my mates for a game of golf? We've got gorgeous weather here in the north of England - for a change.

I'M SORRY TO SAY there is gonna be a new version that fixes loads of issues after I've finished my exams - it's probably going to be the 'final' version.

ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! I HAVEN'T PLAYED ALLIANCE! Maybe I overrated Grim... but only by 1 or 2 places. Some people even wanted good old Atomic Bomberman - me and some mates did have a copy some years ago but then it ran SO shite on our old computers that we couldn't enjoy it! I don't think it has any lasting enjoyment - the same reason why GTA wasn't on my list - first 45 mins it is a work of genius, after it just gets tedious, but you're right, the m-player is a good laugh. And finally - TOCA vs Colin - It's a matter of personal taste - they are both incredibly good games and people I know who have got both all have their own preference.

SOMEONE OVER AT ASK.COM brought it to my attention that Q-racing is one of the few mods/games WITHOUT any violence. This hadn't actually crossed my mind before - I'm sitting firmly on the other side of the fence in this rather clichéd debate. I believe that Society prepares the crime - the criminal only commits it. IMHO it's rather narrow-minded to blame computer games on such attacks in America as that school shooting by, was it Michael Carneal?. The situation is bordering on the ridiculous now with (correct me if I'm wrong) even Bill Clinton maintaining that it was actually id software amongst others who trained him how to fire a weapon! And I thought Quake was played with a mouse! There are many less superficial and more deep-rooted problems that are the cause of these actions - The education system, the lack of family values and kids' upbringing and those gun laws over in the US! Oo, ee, ah that's it - I'm off my high-horse now!

THANKS! The response to the new version and track guide has been great. Remember - I really need that feedback! We'll try and get back to you within 24 hours. Get designing those tracks! Btw... I've got A-level mocks/real module exams (I do Geog, History and Russian) for these 2 weeks - wish me luck :) I think Paul's also on A-level exams and Ste is currently going through the hell that is GCSEs - the most important exams in the UK.

NEW VERSION. Get the (semi) new version 1.03b from the downloads page. It fixes a few problems: On the first running of the game you no longer spawn as a player model; The mult-player menu no longer crashes the game; You can now select the track from the multiplayer menu; fixed some Pak file bugs - it's smaller now; and updated the text file. REMEMBER! Q-RACING WORKS IN MULTIPLAYER - APPARENTLY IT'S A BLAST!

SORRY! (especially to Redwood) Telefragged seem to be all over the place as far as the reliability of the download links goes, due to the move to the new FTP server. By the time you've read this, I should have moved all downloads to the HTTP server (the one this site's on) and made them all self-extracting EXEs for your convenience. I ALSO FIXED AND UPDATED THE TRACK GUIDE.

I NEED MAIL! Because the new downloads don't have counters, could you please send an e-mail (you can say anything you want or leave it blank) to us whilst you are waiting - it gives me an indication of how many are getting it. The short time the new counters were functional the news was good - well over half the visitors were downloading Q-Racing!
