Hello there, it's me - Timm!
A lot of things has happened since I last updated.. Quake3: Arena and Unreal Tournament are both release,
featuring amazing bots, but more importantly, John Carmack has released the Quake1 source code! This means that bot/mod authors are now finally able to add bots directly to
the .exe gamecode and not thru some slow-ass QuakeC progs.dat system. Check out the BotBoard for more bot and source related stuff.
I've had a few email from people wondering about just wtf is up with Frog and the Frogbot. Well, as you've probably noticed, things are kind of .. slow at the moment.
This might change, or it might not change. Frog might continue working on the bot.. or he might choose not to. It's all up in the air folks.. but if something important happends, you'll see it here first. (OKey, maybe not first.. try the BotEpidemic for the really quick updates)

Anyway, Frog made a cool PONG (yes, that's pong) demo for you guys.. (ain't he sweet or what?). Grap it right here. I haven't checked it out yet (quake is zipped down! Can you beleve that?), but you guys don't wanna make that same mistake, so download it dammit!

Hey, it's only been a month or.. two. Yeh, well, sorry about that.
Anyway, Frog has released a Frogbot 1.3 test version (yes, that is the same version that was used for those cool demos he released some time back). You can grab this sucker from the downloads page. There is quite a lot of new fancy stuff in there, although Frog does not recommend you guys to actually replace this version with the 0.12c version (or whatever frogmod you're using). Have fun with this one guys!

Hello. After a long, and agonizing wait, you can finally grab the Frogbot Previewer program from the QNM website. It isn't anything fancy, but it allows you to Right-Click on bot files and View them without editing them. Enjoy.

#1, HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROGBOT! - it's one year today since frog released the first version (grab it on the Metropolis FTP), frogbot000. wh00!

#2, okey, we've got a new BotBoard going. You have to re-register and stuff like that. We aren't completely done with the color-scheme and logo and stuff like that, But it'll come.. just wait.
(damn, did anyone else notice they reset the counter? We had like .. 60k on there.. damn)

Hey, whats up all. I've got two things for you here.
#1, the official Frogbot IRC channel is now ready for action. Log on to any EFnet server (using a program such as mIRC) and join the channel #frogbot. It will be up all the time (we've got a bot on there). There aren't always people on the channel, but I hope that'll change. it's a good place to just hang out. try it.
#2. GameSpyder, another one of thos GSI\PQ\whatever dealies has launched. It's sorta like the good 'ol Slipgate Central, and they've got Metropolis listed. They've got a new sorta rating system, so I suggest you use the form below and rate it. (oh, yeah, and try hitting the bigger numbers.. it's much more fun!)

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know I will be updating both the QNM website and a little heads up on this one as well. The Frogbot Archiver program is coming along, and I have been communicating with Frog about some additional bot flags and settings to make the bots more personable.

Frogbot mods has gotten hold of a few demos from Frog, showing off some new features that'll be included in the next version. I haven't check 'em out yet (downloading still), but I'd urge everyone to check it out. Wrecker over at FBMODS, said they rock. There's also some interesting new mods up at FBMODS, so check it out.

Happy new year everyone! (yeah, late, but better late than never)
Anyway, I just wanted to give some credits to the guys over at Frogbot mods. They are really doing a greate job.
If you are looking for more (unsupported*) maps, go over there and check the mods section. The new Mod Pack 1 (v12) has a total of 38 maps supported! (Though some play rather bad) - it's worth a look anyway.
* unsupported. read it. unsupported. Metropolis does NOT support it, so don't email me\us asking for tech support.. We won't give it to you. We might give you something else, though. (like a bullet from my brand new .44 mag =)

Look who's alive! Sorry about the extreme lack of updates.. I'm a looser. I'll try not to let it happend again.
Anyway, frog has posted some stuff on the msg board about the next version of the frogbot. Here's what he had to say..
Stuff that should be in the next version
1) Water support.
2) Good telefrag avoidance.
3) Lift support.
4) Better teamplay.
5) Prediction shots.
6) No buggy maps.
7) Drop quad/ring option.
8) Viewable weapons option.
9) Creepcam support.
10) w_switch and b_switch in QW.
11) Forced respawn in match mode.
12) Array support.
13) Bot talk support.
14) Improved map making support.
15) Better bot use of the RL.
Things that I hope to do:
1) Rocket jumping.
2) Buttons.
3) Sneakier bots.
Frog also updated us later on with some info on how things were going..

Hey, wassup ya'll. The last week has been extremely busy for me, so I haven't been able to update this page.
Anyway, Tayfun let me know that he has mirrored the frogbot in Turkey. Thanks mate.
There has been a lot of stuff going on these last days, and I am sorry that I haven't been here to update you all. I probably won't be able to do so either for some time. So, if you have questions and interesting stuff you'd like to let the world know about, please use the BotBoard. (link at your left)

Btw, to those who have problems getting the Frogbot.. Try again. The link does indeed work. Try downloading from Telefragged if the mirror close to you doesn't have the file.

Alright! The frogbot is out in a new version, this time 0.12! Get ready to rock and roll!
New stuff includes..
- Various miscellaneous bugs fixed.
- ztndm3 support.
- Bots can understand air movement on difficult jumps (ie. curved
jump prediction).
- Qizmo support for smoother Quakeworld play.
- More friendly teammates (they hopefully won't try to steal items
that you are waiting for).
- msg= command in normal Quake, and msg command in Quakeworld now
works.
- Better bot jumping and ledge avoidance.
Though I improved the jump prediction algorithm substantially, I
also found (and fixed) quite a nasty jump bug. Basically, in 5
server frames each second a jump request was ignored. Hence either
the jump was delayed or too late to make (the delay being the frame
time of the server - this was quite bad in the Quakeworld version,
which I hadn't tested adequately, since it has only 18.2 server
frames per second).
- Added experimental lookcheat command.
- Added skinfix command.
- Source included.
Yepp, that's right, the source is now included! You QC gurus can now get crankin on adding your own features. But be sure to ASK FROG FOR PERMISSION BEFORE RELEASING ANYTHING!
